It was a weekend of outstanding achievements for WHBTC’s
junior athletes, with remarkable performances in both tennis and sailing
competitions across the country.
Our Junior Tennis players are making a strong impact, with
Jack Howell clinching the U18 Boys Singles title at Bishopstown LTC in Cork
last weekend. This victory is a
testament to Jack’s hard work and dedication.
Our Junior Sailing members also made waves over the weekend,
showcasing their skills at the Topper Ireland Traveller Event hosted by the
Royal St George Yacht Club in Dun Laoighaire.
A huge congratulations to Cian and Ben Allen, John Kenny, Sonny Lowney,
Malachy Reynolds, and Emmet Marcus for representing WHBTC with such dedication
and enthusiasm.
Special recognition goes to John Kenny, who secured 3rd
place overall and 1st U14, and to Sonny Lowney, who achieved 3rd
place in the Regatta Fleet. An
incredible performance from all, with some participating in their first-ever
competition.
Further success was achieved at The Champions Cup in Schull,
where Ireland's top dinghy sailors competed from each of the youth
classes. Max Sweetman and Peter Kenny
received invitations to attend, a notable accomplishment as these are highly
sought after across all ISA dinghy classes.
Max finished in an impressive 5th place, while Peter secured 12th. Well done to both!
The club is proud of all its young athletes for their
dedication and hard work. The fantastic results over the weekend reflect the
bright future of WHBTC in both tennis and sailing.
