More Than a Victory: WHBTC Wins the Browne Cup at Battle of the Clubs 2025 The sun shone on a brilliant day of tennis as WHBTC welcomed players from Hillbrook LTC for the much anticipated Battle of the Clubs, 48 players battled it out in beautiful conditions where ultimately WHBTC claimed the win over Hillbrook, proudly claiming the Browne Cup. But while the scoreline may suggest a clear-cut victory, it doesn’t tell the full story of a day filled with close matches, fantastic sportsmanship, and new friendships forged between two great clubs. From the first serve to the final point, every match was hotly contested, with long rallies, many deuce games and countless games that could have gone either way. Speaking after the event, Hillbrook Captain Donal O’Brien said, “The result doesn’t reflect just how close so many of the matches were. It was a brilliant day of tennis and great spirit from everyone involved.” WHBTC Captain Amanda Whitmore added: “While we won the Cup this time, the real win was the competitive games and fun we had with with our neighbouring club. IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHBTC Membership Renewal On March 1, 2025, all WHBTC memberships will be automatically renewed, and you will receive an invoice for your membership renewal. MEMBERSHIP UPDATES & CHANGES Members turning 18 will be automatically charged the adult rate. If you are a full-time student, please email the office, with your student card, to qualify for the student rate. Members aged 65 and over, who have been part of the club for at least five years, now qualify for the senior membership rate. If your circumstances have changed (e.g., family or individual membership adjustments), please update your details using below link If no changes are required, no action is needed on your part. CHANGES TO MEMBERSHIP SMARTCLUB CREDIT & TOP-UPS Any SmartClub credit applied during the March 2024 renewal will expire on February 28, 2025. To avoid losing this credit, please ensure it is used before this date. Top-ups that you have added to your SmartClub card at the bar or online will not be affected and will remain available.
