🎾 2025 DNG/Howden Club Championships – Wexford Harbour Boat & Tennis Club 🎾
Usually, it’s the river views that steal the show at WHBTC — but last weekend, all eyes turned northwest over the tennis courts for the 2025 DNG/Howden Club Championships Finals!
With 17 finals across all levels, it was a jam-packed weekend for the tennis committee and our incredible referees Niall Bridges and Muireann Nagle, who managed the 5-week tournament AND played in finals themselves! 👏
🏆 Highlights:

Men’s Singles (Class 2/3): Tom McGrath defeated Shane Jenkins in straight sets.

Ladies’ Singles (Class 2/3): Ruth Kennedy claimed the Eileen Kennedy Cup (named in honour of her mother) for the third time, beating Lisa Kelly in a thrilling match.

Men’s Class 4: Ciaran O’Shea overcame Tony Dolan in 2 sets.

Ladies’ Class 4/5: Siobhan Sinnott outlasted Sarah Egan in a 3-set marathon lasting nearly 3 hours!

Men’s Class 5: Anthony Kehoe defeated David Whitley in a strong performance.

Men’s Class 6/7: First-time finalist Brian O’Loan triumphed over James Ferguson.

Ladies’ Class 6/7: Newcomer Rebecca Crean took the title against Catherine Logue.
