Covid-19 Announcement

LEVEL 5 COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT

Regrettably, we now face into further restriction during this new lockdown and we must adjust our Club activities accordingly. Over the last 48 hours we have been working with our two representative sports bodies to clarify how the regulations apply to us, and they in turn have been working with Sporting Ireland and the Dept of Sport.  As a result of these discussions, the following will now apply.

Tennis

  • Outdoor Courts can remain open for restricted play.
  • Singles Play is only allowed on a casual basis for exercise purposes only.
  • Doubles play is allowed only with member from the same household.
  • Players to live within a 5km radius of the club
  • There should be no adult training, coaching or matches.
  • Players must have a pre-reserved playing time, and all details recorded for
  • Children allowed to travel beyond 5km to train
  • Coaches allowed to travel beyond 5km to work on children’s training programme.
  • Junior Outdoor Coaching must only take place in pods of 6 per court with a maximum of 4 on court at any one time and staying in their section of the court.

Boating and Sailing

  • Boating and Sailing may continue for Individual living within 5 km of the Club but on an individual basis only
  • There will be no events and no competitions
  • Training of Children of school age may continue once using the pod system and up to a maximum of 15 people.
  • Coaches and Children can travel beyond the 5km to support a children’s training program

General

  • The Club house must remain closed

Discussion on certain issues continue so I would not be surprised if we see further points of clarification in the next few days and weeks, but for now these are the regulations that apply.

We have been specifically asked to remind our members of the reason for the restrictions and the need to observe the spirit of the guidance to protect ourselves and our community. Our reputations and our sports reputations are also at stake.

As earlier in the year, we will put in place a zoom coffee morning once a week so that friends may interact in a virtual world. If you would like to be involved, please let us know by email and we will try and link you in.

In the meantime, let us look out for each other and if in difficulty or feeling isolated, please let us know and we can arrange some assistance. Despite all we say about each other, deep down, we are a real friendly bunch!

Stay safe
